Susquehanna Athletics Weekly (Jan. 25-31) and Monthly Rookie (January) Super Crusaders

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University Athletics handed out its weekly Super Crusaders and monthly Rookie Super Crusaders awards on Feb. 3.

Freshman swimmer Devin Lessard (Chestertown, Md./Queen Anne's County) and sophomore basketball guard Spenser Spencer (Seattle, Wash./Lakeside) are the women's and men's honorees for the week of Jan. 25-31, while freshman track-&-field athlete Rebecca Laniewski (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) and freshman basketball guard/forward Harvey Pannell (Bloomfield, Conn./St. Thomas More) are the women's and men's Rookie winners for January.

Lessard won three individual events, including a school-record-mark of 11 minutes, 5.52 seconds in the 1,000-yard freestyle, in Susquehanna's narrow 108-97 loss at Albright College on Jan. 30. She also won the 100 butterfly and 500 free with times of 1:01.76 and 5:30.10, respectively. This is Lessard's second weekly Super Crusaders award this season. She has also won the monthly Rookie award twice.

Spencer averaged 14.0 points and 2.5 rebounds per game during SU's 1-1 Landmark Conference weekend, including a team-high five three-pointers, and added four steals and a team-high nine assists. His three assists in a 73-59 loss to The Catholic University of America on Jan. 29 tied for the game-high, while his six in a 76-65 win over Goucher College the next day led all players. This is also his second weekly Super Crusaders award this season.

Laniewski led all Susquehanna athletes in January with a mark of 3.04 meters (9 feet, 11 3/4 inches) in the pole vault at SU's Orange & Maroon Classic on Jan. 23. That height ties for the second-best in school history.

Pannell averaged 10.7 points and 5.3 rebounds per game during Susquehanna's 6-4 January. He also had 13 assists, six steals and two blocked shots while starting all 10 games. He earned two weekly Super Crusaders awards earlier this season.
