Susquehanna Athletics Super Crusaders (Nov. 2-8)
SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University Athletics handed out its weekly Super Crusaders awards on Nov. 12. Sophomore football quarterback Rich Palazzi (Newfoundland, Pa./Wallenpaupack) and junior swimmer Christie Savard (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) are the men's and women's honorees for the week of Nov. 2-8.
This is the second Super Crusaders award this season for both Palazzi and Savard. It is the second straight for Savard.
Palazzi completed 15 of 22 passes for 193 yards and a career-high five touchdowns to lead Susquehanna to a 35-21 Liberty League win over Worcester Polytechnic Institute on Nov. 7. He threw no interceptions. The five TD are a Nicholas A. Lopardo Stadium record. Palazzi leads the Liberty with 16 TD passes this year and 191.6 yards passing per game. The league honored him as its football Offensive Player of the Week on Nov. 9.
Savard recorded the fastest time in three events, including a school-record-breaking 400-yard individual-medley performance, to lead SU past The Catholic University of America, 140-116, on Nov. 7. She broke her own Susquehanna record in the 400 IM with the fastest time of 4 minutes, 48.99 seconds. She also won the 100 freestyle and 200 butterfly in 57.12 seconds and 2:14.31, respectively. The Landmark Conference honored her as its women's swimming & diving Athlete of the Week for the second straight time on Nov. 9.
