Finizio, Wing Grab First Super Crusader Awards of the Spring

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Softball and baseball were represented in this week’s Super Crusader awards, as outfielder Lisa Finizio and third baseman Dan Wing were tabbed the SAAC Super Crusaders for the week ending April 17.

Susquehanna’s leader in nearly every statistical category, Finizio picked up her first Super Crusader award of the spring after batting above .400 last week. In four games, she went 8-for-18 (.444) with three runs scored, one RBI and one walk. She had at least two hits in three of the four games, including two three-hit efforts, as SU went 3-1 over that stretch, including a road doubleheader sweep of Wilkes.

Through 26 games this season, Finizio leads the team in batting average (.477), hits (41), runs scored (25), stolen bases (10-for-10) and total bases (52). She also has 13 RBI from the leadoff spot and boasts a .500 on-base percentage. The Crusaders are currently 21-5, including a perfect 4-0 in conference play, heading into a Wednesday doubleheader with league opponent Juniata.

Also earning his first Super Crusader nod of 2011, Wing started all three games in SU’s conference series at Catholic and hit .700 (7-for-10) with a home run, double, four RBI, four runs scored and two walks. He opened the series with a 4-for-5 performance in game one with two runs scored and two RBI and proceeded to go 3-for-5 over the final two games of the series.

In 27 games this season, Wing is second on the team in batting average (.310) and his 26 hits are third on the team. He leads the squad with nine doubles and also has two home runs for a .488 slugging percentage and has also driven in 11 runs and drawn 12 walks.
