Third Time’s a Charm for Rieker

MADISON, N.J. – Susquehanna junior Ethan Rieker (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Twp.) picked up his third Landmark Conference Baseball Player of the Week honor on Monday afternoon. The infielder/outfielder secured his award thanks to a week in which he hit at a .615 clip.

Rieker went 16-for-26 in six games last week and had at least three hits in four of those contests. He finished the week with two home runs, three doubles, seven runs scored and seven RBI.

Rieker capped off the week with what was perhaps his most dominant game. He went 4-for-5 in a 14-13 playoff-clinching win over USMMA on Sunday afternoon with three runs scored and two RBI. Two of those hits were a home run and a double.

This spring, Rieker has started all 33 games in which he’s played and leads the team with a .393 batting average (48-for-122). Those 48 hits lead the team, as do his 24 runs scored, 14 doubles, .648 slugging percentage, five home runs and eight stolen bases. He also boasts a .417 on-base percentage and a .947 fielding percentage.

With the win over USMMA, the Crusaders clinched the No. 4 seed in the Landmark Conference postseason tournament and will take on Moravian on Saturday, May 7 at 12:30 p.m. The tournament is a double-elimination format and Moravian, as the No. 1 seed, is the host site throughout the tournament.
