FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Susquehanna’s baseball team defeated Centenary (N.J.) 6-5 on Saturday afternoon to move to 6-6 on the season and wrap up their Spring Training Trip on a three-game winning streak.
Ty Raubenstine (Elizabethville, Pa. / Upper Dauphin Area) had another great day at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and the go-ahead RBI. Catcher Mike Rucereto (Washington Twp., N.J. / Bergen Catholic) drove in two runs.
Six Crusaders finished the game with at least two hits and SU had 16 hits in the contest.
The Cyclones (4-4) put together a five run sixth inning to rally from a 5-0 deficit, but strong pitching from the Crusader bullpen sealed the victory. Centenary only scattered five hits in the game.
Brian Wendig (West Chester, Pa. / Malvern Prep) started the game for SU, going five innings and striking out five.
Matt Lottes (Muttontown, N.Y. / Long Island Lutheran) picked up the win in relief and Matt Smith (Blue Ridge Summit, Pa. / Wyoming Seminary) earned his second save of the season.
The Crusaders are off until Friday when they host Muhlenberg for their home opener at 3:30 p.m.
