FT. PIERCE, Fla. – Susquehanna's baseball team struggled to find offense in Sunday's doubleheader against Westminster, dropping both games to the Titans 9-0 and 10-4.
In the first game, the Crusaders (0-4) trailed by only two runs going into the fifth inning before allowing five runs on five hits to the Titans (2-0). Westminster tacked on two more in the top of the seventh to seal the game one shutout.
Three pitchers appeared for SU as Spencer Hotaling (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) was charged with the loss, starting the contest and going 4 2/3 innings with six strikeouts.
The Crusaders began chipping away, however, and crossed home three times in the next four innings to trim the deficit to 6-4.
Kyle Semmel (Burlington Twp., N.J. / Holy Cross) drew a bases-loaded walk in the third, Raubenstine ripped a double down the right field line to score Ryan Place (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Governor Livingston) in the fourth and Mike Rucereto (Washington Twp., N.J./ Bergen Catholic) ripped a triple to right center and later scored in the fifth to round the SU scoring.
But the Titans put three more runs on the board to put the game out of reach at 10-4. Raubenstine finished the second game going 3-for-3 with an RBI.
SU plays two games tomorrow starting with Misericordia at 12:30 p.m. followed by La Roche at 7:30 p.m.
