Crusaders Fall to Albright in Wintry Home Opener

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Finally being able to play their 2013 home opener despite rain and snow showers, Susquehanna baseball fell to Albright 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference action.

The Crusaders (8-11) were held scoreless until the bottom of the ninth inning. Nick Kennedy (Brookeville, Md. / Good Council) hit a two-out single to right field followed by Dan Wing (West Chester, Pa. / Unionville), who doubled to left center to score Kennedy and making the contest 3-1. Unfortunately, Albright (8-5) got the next batter to ground out and end the contest.

SU had five hits in the game as Bryan Palsi (Brielle, N.J. / Manasquan), Dylan Glassmire (Doylestown, Pa. / Central Bucks South) and Jared Musilli (Branchville, N.J. / High Point Regional) all recorded singles.

Pat Jennings (Essex Falls, N.J. / West Essex) was charged with the defeat as the senior righty threw 4.2 innings, fanning two Lions. Matt Roe (Freehold, N.J. / St. John Vianney) came on in relief, going 3.1 innings and fanning three. Tyler Della Badia (Scotch Plains, N.J. / Scotch Plains-Fanwood) pitched the final inning for SU and struck out two.

SU hosts Moravian for their first home Landmark Conference weekend series, beginning Friday at 1 p.m.
