TOWSON, Md. – Susquehanna sophomore starting pitcher Spencer Hotaling (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) has been named to the 2013 Landmark Conference Baseball Second Team, announced Wednesday.
This season, Hotaling led SU starters with a 2.69 ERA in 10 appearances. He threw seven complete games and had two shutouts while posting a 3-6 record.
Hotaling threw a team-best 60.1 innings, striking out 45 and surrendering only 18 earned runs and 14 walks. He allowed six doubles all season and did not allow a triple or home run throughout the year.
On March 8 against Penn State-Behrend, Hotaling shut out the Lions and allowed only three hits while striking out five. Against eventual Landmark Conference champion Moravian on March 29, he threw his second blank slate of the year and gave up just two hits and struck out four.
Hotaling becomes the first SU starting pitcher to be named All-Conference since John Lunardi ’09 earned First Team recognition in 2009.
In addition to being named Second Team All-Landmark in baseball, Hotaling was named First-Team Centennial Conference as a kicker on the football team this past fall.
