Luckenbill Named Landmark Offensive Player of the Week

TOWSON, Md. –After helping the SU baseball team to a sweep of Merchant Marine Academy over the weekend, freshman outfielder Taylor Luckenbill (Pottsville, Pa. / Nativity BVM) has been named the Landmark Offensive Player of the Week for the period ending March 23.

Luckenbill helped the Crusaders (13-3, 6-0 Landmark) extend their school-record 13-game winning streak, hitting .615 (8-for-13) in the three contests, including a 5-for-8 performance with four RBI in SU’s 11-10 victory in 15 innings on Sunday.  The rookie collected at least one hit in each game versus the Mariners.

In the bottom of the 15th inning, Luckenbill led off with a double to left and scored the game-winning run on a throwing error by the Mariners’ pitcher.

This season, Luckenbill has started all 16 games and leads the squad in hits (25) and doubles (7). The rookie has also scored eight runs and driven in eight while recording a .500 slugging percentage and a .451 on-base percentage to go along with five stolen bases.

SU is scheduled to play five non-conference home games this week, starting with Neumann on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
