SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Baseball and women’s field are represented as this week’s Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders as pitcher Luc Kocher (Middlebury Center, Pa. / Elkland) and thrower Cam Weaver (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) have been recognized.
Kocher threw his third career complete game on Sunday as SU defeated Catholic 5-1 to win the weekend series. The righty needed 111 pitches against the Cardinals and struck out seven batters, surrendering just one unearned run and four hits.
Kocher is 5-2 this season with a 1.61 ERA, best among Susquehanna starters. He has thrown 56.0 innings and given up just 10 earned runs while striking out 38, second best on the team. Kocher has surrendered only 12 walks and opponents are hitting .228 against him.
SU (25-11, 13-5), the No. 2 seed in the Landmark Conference playoffs, plays at Widener today at 4 p.m. before taking on No. 3 seed Catholic on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Moravian.
Weaver, meanwhile, set a personal, school and conference record in the shot put at Saturday’s Paul Kaiser Classic at Shippensburg. The junior recorded a throw of 12.69m, placing third of 38 competitors.
Weaver also competed in the discus and the hammer, registering a top-15 finish in the hammer with a heave of 37.01m.
The SU track & field teams will be competing in the 2014 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Merchant Marine Academy on May 3-4.
