Baseball Projected for First-Place Finish

TOWSON, Md. – The Susquehanna baseball team has been selected to finish first in the 2015 Landmark Conference Preseason Poll.

SU, the defending Landmark Conference champion, received 68 points and six of the eight first-place votes. Moravian, the 2014 runner-up, was selected second with 60 points and the remaining two first-place votes. Catholic was slated third with 34 points, followed by Elizabethtown (32 points), Drew (26), Scranton (23), USMMA (22) and Juniata (7).

The Crusaders return two of the top five conference pitchers from a year ago in seniors Casey Hood (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) and Spencer Hotaling (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area). Hood was named the Landmark Pitcher of the Year after going 9-1 with a 2.76 ERA. Also back is 2014 Rookie of the Year outfielder Taylor Luckenbill (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity BVM), who led the team with his .360 batting average.

Susquehanna won a program-record 30 games last spring en route to the first-ever Landmark title in team history. The Crusaders also won two games in the NCAA Regional Tournament, posting their first NCAA playoff victories in 20 years.
