Baseball Sees Win Streak Snapped

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna baseball team had its seven-game win streak snapped with Wednesday's 9-4 home loss to Keystone.

The Crusaders (10-8) used six pitchers in the game and despite nine hits, could not overcome Keystone starting pitcher Jesse Arnold's complete-game performance.

Nick Kennedy (Brookeville, Md./Good Council) had one hit, one run scored and one RBI. Zach Leone (Pelham, N.Y./Fordham Prep/University of Massachusetts) and Taylor Luckenbill (Pottsville, Pa./Nativity BVM) each had two hits.

In the bottom of the second, Kennedy's bunt single allowed Bryan Palsi (Brielle, N.J./Manasquan) to score for a 1-0 game.

Unfortunately, the Giants put together a six-run third inning with Chris Bzozowski and Nate Ross each driving in two runs apiece.

Dylan Jenkins (Glen Mills, Pa./Bayard Rustin) made it 6-2 when Matt Cassinelli (Valhalla, N.Y./Valhalla/SUNY Westchester CC) scored on a fielder's choice ball and the Crusaders trimmed to the lead to 6-4 with two more runs in the fourth, both unearned.

Keystone, though, added three runs in the seventh to make it 9-4. SU then left two runners stranded in the eighth and one in the ninth as Keystone held on for the win.

The Crusaders are on the road April 3-4 to face Catholic in a Landmark Conference series.
