Hood, Hotaling Sign With Las Vegas Team

LAS VEGAS – Former Susquehanna baseball players Casey Hood '15 (Shrewsbury, Pa./Susquehannock) and Spencer Hotaling '15 (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) have signed with the Las Vegas Train Robbers of the Pecos League, an independent professional baseball league.

Both starting pitchers for SU, Hood and Hotaling graduated in May following prolific careers with the Crusaders. Hood, the 2014 Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Year, finished his career with an 18-10 record in 37 starts with 222.1 innings pitched and a 3.08 ERA. He also had 181 strikeouts over his 39-game career.

Hotaling, meanwhile, picked up 13 career wins over his four-year career. He appeared in 46 games with 31 starts and boasted a 2.89 ERA to go along with 155 strikeouts. In 2013, Hotaling was named to the All-Landmark Conference Second Team following a season in which compiled a 2.69 ERA with seven complete games and two shutouts.

In 2014, Hood and Hotaling helped guide the Crusaders to their most successful season in program history. SU won its first-ever Landmark Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament while setting a program record in wins with 30.
