Baseball Ends Spring Break Trip on High Note

AGUADILLA, Puerto Rico – The Susquehanna baseball team ended its spring break trip on a high note as they defeated Arcadia 6-4 Sunday morning.

The Crusaders (5-6) were led at the plate by Taylor Luckenbill who went 3-3 with a RBI. Zach Leone went 4-5 with a RBI while Bryan Palsi was 3-4 on the day with a double and a RBI.

Matt Cassinelli (1-0) earned the win on the mound with five and two-thirds innings of work while striking out four. Liam Conboy pitched the ninth inning and earned the save (1).

Susquehanna scored first when Leone singled to score Justin Cassinelli in the bottom of the first inning (1-0). Leone reached second on a single by Palsi and then third on a fielder's choice and scored on a wild pitch to give SU the 2-0 lead.

Arcadia (7-5) tied the game on a Nick Todero two-run homer in the third inning. The Crusaders took the lead in the fifth when Dylan Jenkins singled to start the inning and Josh Cimino doubled to score Jenkins and then scored on a SAC bunt from Danny Gordon to give SU the 4-2 lead.

The Knights scored a run in the sixth to cut the lead in half (4-3) but the Crusaders answered with two runs – Luckenbill bunted to score Gordon (5-3) and Palsi hit a SAC fly to score Justin Cassinelli – of their own to take a 6-3 lead. Arcadia scored a run in the ninth but it was not enough as Susquehanna held on to win 6-4.

The Crusaders return to action on Thursday, March 17 when they travel to York (Pa.) for a 3:30 p.m. game.
