SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Sunday's 6-4 win over Drew University gave the Susquehanna baseball team a three-game sweep of the Rangers in the first Landmark Conference weekend of the season.
Drew (6-8, 0-3) scored in the top of the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. However, Susquehanna (9-6, 3-0) answered with three runs of its own in its half of the inning.
In that first inning, Jenkins doubled to score Taylor Luckenbill (3-1). Leone scored on a wild pitch and SU pulled within one (3-2). Jenkins then tied the game on a throwing error.
The Crusaders took the lead in the bottom of the third when Dylan Glassmire doubled to left center to score Matt Cassinelli (4-3). SU took a two-run lead (5-3) in the bottom of the fourth when Justin Cassinelli homered over the left field wall.
Matt Cassinelli singled up the middle to score Leone to increase the Crusaders' lead to three (6-3) in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Rangers scored a run in the top of the eighth but it was not enough as Susquehanna held on to win 6-4 and complete the sweep.
The Crusaders return to action on Wednesday, March 23 when the team travels to Rutgers-Camden for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference game.
