Baseball Remains Perfect in Landmark Conference Play

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Susquehanna baseball team improved its Landmark Conference record to 4-0 when with an 11-9 win at Juniata Friday afternoon.

Matt Cassinelli led the Crusaders at the plate going 3-5 with three RBI's, two runs scored and a double. Justin Cassinelli went 3-6 with a RBI and Nick Berger homered in his one at-bat to go 1-1.

Cory Fallon (4-0) earned the win on the mound in eight innings of work with eight strikeouts.

Juniata (6-11, 2-2) scored first in the bottom of the second to take a brief 2-0 lead before the Crusaders (10-7, 4-0) scored three in the third to take the one-run edge (3-2).

Tom Shields scored the first run for SU as he crossed the plate on a catcher's error to cut the lead in half (2-1). A Taylor Luckenbill single plated Josh Cimino to tie the game at two. Matt Cassinelli proceeded to double to left center to give Susquehanna the 3-2 lead when Luckenbill scored.

SU scored three more runs on three hits in the fifth inning to take the 6-2 lead. In the bottom of the fifth, it was three up and three down for Juniata before the Crusaders scored four more runs in the top of the sixth to increase their lead to eight (10-2).

The Eagles scored seven runs over the last four innings but it was not enough as the Crusaders held on to win 11-9.

Susquehanna returns to action on Saturday, March 26 at Juniata for the last two games of the three-game road trip. The games are scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
