HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Susquehanna baseball team completed a three-game sweep of Juniata College when by taking both games of Saturday's doubleheader.
In game one, the Crusaders (12-7, 6-0) defeated the Eagles (6-13, 2-4) 12-4. John Cooley (2-1) earned the win in six innings of work while striking out eight. Matt Cassinelli led the offense going 3-4 at the plate with two RBI's and two runs scored. Justin Cassinelli was 3-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Josh Cimino and Zach Leone were both 2-4 with one RBI.
Juniata scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning to go up 2-0. Susquehanna cut the lead in half in the second inning when Bryan Palsi singled to score Matt Cassinelli (2-1). Six runs in the third inning gave SU the 7-2 lead with two more runs scored in the fourth and three in the seventh giving SU the 12-4 win.
In game two of the doubleheader, the Crusaders won 7-2 with Cole Luzins (1-0) earning the complete game win. Justin Cassinelli went 3-3 at the plate with one RBI, one run scored and a double. Leone was 2-3 with a RBI, two runs scored and a double while Dylan Jenkins went 2-4 with two RBI's and a triple.
Susquehanna scored first in the third inning when Justin Cassinelli doubled to score Tom Shields for a 1-0 game. Leone followed with a single to score Cassinelli (2-0) and Jenkins tripled to plate Matt Cassinelli and Leone to make it 4-0.
Juniata scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth but it would be the only runs the Eagles scored as the Crusaders scored three more to win 7-2.
Susquehanna returns home on Tuesday, March 29 when the team hosts Gettysburg at 3:30 p.m.
