SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna baseball player Justin Cassinelli and women's lacrosse player Annie McElaney have been named SAAC/Pepsi Super Crusaders for the week ending March 27.
Cassinelli started all four games last week as SU went 3-4 with a three-game series sweep of Landmark Conference opponent Juniata. The one loss came at No. 15 Rutgers-Camden.
Cassinelli went 12-18 in the four games – three hits in each game – for a .667 batting percentage. He totaled five runs scored, four RBI's and two doubles.
This season, Cassinelli leads all players in batting average (.500), runs scored (27), hits (37), home runs (3) and total bases (54). He also boasts a .563 on base percentage as well as 13 RBI's and six doubles.
The Crusaders are 12-7 overall this season with a 6-0 mark in Landmark Conference action. The team hosts Gettysburg Tuesday, March 29 at 3:30 p.m.
McElaney led all scorers with six goals in SU's 15-13 win at Landmark opponent Drew. Her second goal against the Rangers marked the 100th of her career. McElaney now has 104 career goals, just two shy of breaking into the top 10 in program history.
She also added two assists, four ground balls and two caused turnovers in Saturday's win.
This season, McElaney leads the Crusaders in goals (16), assists (8) and points (24). She has 35 shots (28 on goal), 14 ground balls, seven caused turnovers and five draw controls. SU is 3-3 overall with a 1-0 record in conference games.
The team returns home to host Randolph-Macon on March 30 at 4 p.m.
