Baseball Edges Gettysburg for Mid-Week Win

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna baseball team  came away with a 3-1 win over visiting Gettysburg on Tuesday afternoon to pick up the squad's 13th victory of the spring.

SU pulled ahead 2-1 in the bottom of the second and added an insurance run in the eighth to win its fourth game in a row.

The top six batters in the Crusaders' lineup racked up all 10 of Susquehanna's hits. The four through six batters all went 2-for-4, including Bryan Palsi who also drove in two runs.

Starter Bobby Klatt went six full innings, giving up just one run on five hits with seven strikeouts to pick up his first victory of the season. Jack Kinney pitched a scoreless seventh inning before Liam Conboy came in for the two-inning save, his third of the season.

The Bullets (13-7) plated the first run of the afternoon on Steve Wright's second-inning single to centerfield that scored Andy Kelley.

SU (13-7) responded in its half of the inning with two runs to take the lead. Dylan Jenkins doubled to center to score Matt Cassinelli and Palsi's groundout to the shortstop allowed Jenkins to score the go-ahead run.

It remained a 2-1 Crusader lead until the bottom of the eighth when Palsi's RBI single through the left side scored Zach Leone to give Conboy a two-run cushion.

Conboy proceeded to retire the side in order in the top of the ninth to end the game.

Susquehanna returns to action on Wednesday, March 30 with a 3:30 p.m. game at Johns Hopkins.
