Offense Explodes to Take Series Finale vs. USMMA

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – The Susquehanna baseball team tied a season high with 25 runs and defeated USMMA 25-7 on Sunday afternoon in the third game of the three-game Landmark Conference series.

The Crusaders took two of three games from the Mariners to improve to 15-9 overall and 8-1 in Landmark games.

Ten different players combined for SU's 21 hits. Josh Cimino and Bryan Palsi finished with four hits while Zach Leone and Danny Gordon had three hits apiece. Gordon also scored five runs while Palsi drove in five.

Four different pitchers took the mound for SU. Starter Cole Luzins went 4.2 innings and gave up seven runs on nine hits. Bobby Klatt got the win in relief to improve to 2-2 on the season.

USMMA (6-15, 2-7) scored four runs in the bottom of the third to grab the first lead of the game. The Crusaders countered with a three-run fourth inning on RBI hits from Palsi, Gordon and Justin Cassinelli. Susquehanna added three more runs in the fifth with Dylan Jenkins' two-run single through the right side plating the final two runs of the inning to make it 6-4 in favor of SU.

The Mariners scored three of their own in the fifth to pull back ahead 7-6. Those ultimately marked the final runs of the game for USMMA while Susquehanna scored 19 runs over the final four innings of the game.

SU put together an eight-run sixth and seven-run seventh inning. Palsi came through with a three-run triple in the sixth to account for three of the Crusaders' eight runs in the inning. The following inning, two USMMA errors led to five of the SU's seven runs.

Susquehanna went on to score a run in the eighth and three more in the ninth for the 25-7 victory.

The Crusaders return on March 5 with a 3:30 p.m. game at Keystone.
