SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna baseball team won its three-game series against the University of Scranton with Sunday's 10-8 victory on Senior Day.
Prior to the game Susquehanna's seven seniors were honored before the Crusaders went on to take series finale after winning the series opener on Saturday.
Zach Leone led the offense going 3-3 at the plate with two RBI's and two runs scored with one homerun and one double. Matt Cassinelli went 2-4 with one RBI, one run scored and one homerun while Bryan Palsi went 1-2 with two RBI's and scored one run.
Scranton (15-17, 9-9) lead 7-0 through the top of the second inning. The Crusaders (24-11, 15-3) scored six runs in the bottom of the second to cut the lead to one (7-6). Rob Marcickiewicz started the scoring for SU when he singled up the middle to score Palsi. Justin Cassinelli followed with a double to score Chris Ryan and Marcickiewicz Taylor Luckenbill homered to score Cassinelli and Leone scored when Palsi reached on an error.
The Royals answered with a run in the third to increase their lead to two (8-6) but back-to-back homeruns from Leone and Matt Cassinelli gave SU the 9-8 lead.
Susquehanna scored the last run of the game in the eighth inning when Palsi singled to score Luckenbill and the Crusaders held on to win 10-8.
SU hits the road on Thursday, April 28 when the team travels to Keystone for a 3:30 p.m. game.
