TOWSON, Md. – Susquehanna senior baseball player Justin Cassinelli has been named the Landmark Conference Baseball Athlete of the Week.
Cassinelli capped off a week in which he hit for a .625 average by hitting for the cycle in Sunday's 13-3 win at Elizabethtown that clinched the No. 1 seed for SU. Over the team's four games last week, Cassinelli racked up 10 hits, 10 RBI and nine runs scored. The outfielder had two doubles, one triple and four homers for a 1.625 slugging percentage. Cassinelli walked twice, stole two bases and struck out just twice in 16 at-bats. He had at least one hit in all four games and had two games with at least three hits.
This season, Cassinelli has started all 38 games and leads the team in batting average (.479), hits (68), runs (53), home runs (11), and is second in RBI (42). He has 14 doubles, two doubles and a .838 slugging percentage.
SU will host a Landmark Conference semifinal on May 7-8 in a best-of-three format; the team's opponent is still to be determined as several conference games were rained out this weekend. The team is 25-14 heading into postseason play.
