Baseball Nabs Two Major Landmark Conference Awards

TOWSON, Md. – The Susquehanna baseball team earned two major Landmark Conference Awards as announced by the conference on Tuesday. Senior Justin Cassinelli has been named Player of the Year while head coach Denny Bowers and his assistants were named the Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

Cassinelli leads the team in batting average (.497), runs scored (54), hits (72), home runs (11) and stolen bases (13). His 11 home runs and .497 batting average are also tops in the Landmark Conference. In addition, he has 43 RBI's, 14 doubles and three triples to go along with an .848 slugging percentage and .565 on-base percentage.

Bowers earned his second career Landmark Conference Coach of the Year honor, with his previous recognition coming in 2014. This season, Bowers and assistant coaches Sadler Rogers and Rob Shrawder have guided SU to 26 victories heading into the Landmark Conference Championship series.

SU earned the No. 1 seed in the conference championships. The team will host No. 3 Elizabethtown in the Landmark Championship series on May 13-14 with the first game starting Friday, May 13 at 4:00 p.m.
