J. Cassinelli Regional Player of the Year; Three Named All-Region

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Susquehanna senior outfielder player Justin Cassinelli has been named the ABCA/Rawlings Mid-Atlantic Region Position Player of the Year. He was also named to the All-Region First Team. Joining him on the first team was catcher Zach Leone while Matt Cassinelli earned a spot on the Second Team.

Justin Cassinelli led Susquehanna in batting average (.465), hits (86), homeruns (12), runs scored (60), slugging percentage (.768) and on-base percentage (.532). He had 16 doubles and two triples, as well, and went 14-of-18 on stolen bases. The outfielder also drew a team-high 22 walks.

Justin was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Year and was also a First-Team All-Conference player.

Joining Cassinelli on the All-Region First Team was Leone. Leone started all 46 games in which he played and finished the season with a .444 batting average, 46 runs scored, 79 hits, a team-high 53 RBI and a .702 slugging percentage. He led the team with 20 doubles while also adding one triple and eight homeruns. Like Justin, Leone was a First-Team All-Landmark Conference player, marking the second-straight First-Team honor for the catcher.

Finally, Matt Cassinelli received Second-Team All-Region recognition. Also an outfielder and First-Team All-Landmark Conference player, Matt boasted a .373 batting average with 56 hits, 41 runs scored and 36 RBI. Of those 56 hits, 22 went for extra bases, including four homeruns. He finished the spring with a .600 slugging percentage.

SU racked up a program-record 33 victories this season. The Crusaders won the Landmark Conference title and went on to win four games in the NCAA Regional Tournament, including a split with No. 1 Cortland State in the championship games.
