Two More SU Players Land on National Team of the Week
MINNEAPOLIS -- Susquehanna University placed two players on the D3football.com National Team of the Week for games played from Nov. 8-14. Senior defensive lineman Marc McDonough (Kingston, Pa./Bishop Hoban) and senior split end/defensive back Justin Young (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shady Side Academy) are the honorees.
McDonough made a game-high 2.5 sacks as part of a game-high three tackles for a loss (totaling a game-high negative-23 yards) in Susquehanna's 28-17 Liberty League win at Union College on Nov. 14. He also recovered a fumble and had six total tackles (two solo), as SU earned a share of the Liberty championship and the league's automatic invitation to the NCAA Division III championships.
Young recorded three tackles (two solo), including a tackle for a loss and a forced fumble, in the Union game. He also broke up a pass and intercepted another in the end zone on Union's final offensive play, allowing SU to run out the clock on offense. Young starts at cornerback for the Crusaders. He also plays wide receiver part-time, returns kickoffs and serves on the punt-return (punt blocker) and hands teams.
SU has earned and impressive seven National Team of the Week awards this year. This is the second week of the season that the Crusaders have placed two players on the national team.
