SELINSGROVE, Pa. – On Friday, Oct. 22, the eighth installment of the 2010 Susquehanna University Quarterback Club luncheons will be held as the Crusaders look back on last Saturday’s contest against Dickinson and preview to this weekend’s Homecoming and Senior Day game against Johns Hopkins.
The luncheons are held every Friday at noon throughout the football season. The only exception will be the week leading up to SU’s Nov. 6 game at WPI. That week, the luncheon will be held on Thursday, Nov. 4 at noon.
As in years past, the event will take place in the Apple Community Room of the James W. Garrett Sports Complex on the Susquehanna campus.
A yearly membership to the QB Club is $40. That amount does NOT include the weekly fee for lunch.
Each week Susquehanna will also highlight the football team’s weekly Gus Weber Crusader Football Player of the Week. The award is named in honor of late Susquehanna president Gustave Weber, who was Susquehanna president for more than 18 years from 1959 through 1977. A collegiate football standout at Wagner College, Weber was an avid Crusader athletics booster who actually served as head football coach for the final two games of 1965.
The Player of the Week will give a brief speech.
In addition, Susquehanna head women’s basketball coach Jim Reed will speak at this week’s luncheon and preview his squad’s upcoming 2010-11 season.
Also in attendance every Friday will be head coach Steve Briggs, the SU football coaching staff, Susquehanna Director of Athletics Pam Samuelson and Director of Athletic Communications Katie Meier.
Samuelson and Meier will both address the attendees and Meier will recap the previous week’s athletic events and preview upcoming contests. In addition, Briggs’ coaching staff will show a highlight film of the past weekend’s game.
