Schumann Invited to Participate in Division III Senior Football Classic

SELINSGROVE, Pa. -- Susquehanna University's senior captain and offensive lineman Ryan Schumann (Fair Haven, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven Regional) has been invited to play in the Second Annual Division III Senior Football Classic in Salem, Va. on Dec. 3

A four-year letter winner and two-year starter, Schumann was honored as a pre-season All-American by the same group that invited him to this Classic on Nov. 7. He has started 22 games in his career, including every game in the past two seasons.

The senior still awaits to see if he will be named to the All-Centennial team for this season, but was named First-Team All-Liberty League and First-Team All-Region in 2009.

Schumann anchored a line that helped the back field average 122.6 yards per game on the ground this past season. The biggest benefactor of the line, junior Greg Tellish (Mount Airy, Md./South Carroll), ranks second in the Centennial Conference with 811 yards rushing this season.

In 2009, Susquehanna experienced its best season since 2000 with an 8-3 overall record and was the Liberty League champion in its final year in that conference. The Crusaders made it to the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs and posted the most wins in a season since 1992.

In that season, SU ranked second in the conference with 160.3 yards rushing per game, and boasted the top rusher, Dave Paveletz ’10, who averaged 128.5 yards per game.

Schumann will report to Salem on Dec. 1, in preparation to play on the 3rd at a 7 p.m. start.
