SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Junior SE Spenser Ercole (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg) and junior OH/MH Emily Carson (Caldwell, N.J. / James Caldwell) have been named the SAAC Super Crusaders for the week ending September 11.
The Susquehanna football team may not have left Johns Hopkins Saturday with the end result they would have liked to achieved, however Ercole had an exceptional performance in the 56-7 Crusader loss.
Ercole, a Special Teams honorable mention from the Centennial Conference, put his experience and speed to good use Saturday afternoon, returning six kickoff returns for 135 yards, 34 yards being his game high. He also returned one punt return for 11 yards. This was Ercole's first time this season seeing major time in the return game.
With two games now under his belt, Ercole has accumulated one catch for eight yards, one punt return for 11 yards, and a team-leading six kick returns for 135 yards.
The Crusaders are 1-1, 0-1 (Centennial) on the season. They host Dickinson on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
Carson helped the volleyball team to a 2-2 record, while registering 67 kills, 37 digs, five solo blocks, and seven block assists. She recorded two double-doubles and was named to the All-Tournament Team at Washington & Jefferson.
Against Pitt-Greensburg (0-3 L), Carson had 18 kills, a .372 attack percentage, nine digs, and three solo block. In the 3-1 victory over LaRoche, she recorded 15 kills, a .538 attack percentage, two service aces, three digs, and three block assists.
Against Muskingum (0-3 L), she had 13 kills, 12 digs, and two block assists. In the 3-1 win over Washington & Jefferson, Carson recorded 21 kills, two service aces, 13 digs, two solo blocks, and two block assists.
On Friday, the volleyball team travels to Messiah to take on the Falcons at 6:30 p.m. followed by Elizabethtown at 8:30 p.m. Susquehanna is hosting an Alumni Meet on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
