Scott’s Big Play Earns Him Special Teams Award

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna free safety Jalon Scott (Albany, N.Y./Albany HS) may have returned only one punt in SU’s 29-14 win over McDaniel but it was a big one. It was big enough, in fact, to earn him Centennial Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.

Scott had a 76-yard punt return that he nearly ran into the end zone before finally being taken down by a McDaniel player at the Green Terror one-yard line. That set the Crusaders up for an easy score and a 19-14 advantage, a lead they did not relinquish.

Defensively, Scott also had one tackle and one pass breakup against McDaniel.

On the season, the junior has 10 kick returns for 190 yards (19.0 avg) and four punt returns for 99 yards. He is also fourth on the team in total tackles and also has one tackle for loss, one interception, three pass breakups, two blocked kicks and four passes defended.

With Saturday’s win, SU is now 6-3, 5-3 and is guaranteed a winning season both overall and in conference play.
