QB Club Luncheon Number Four this Friday

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The fourth Susquehanna University Quarterback Club luncheon of the 2012 season is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 21, the day before the Crusaders' home game against Gettysburg. On Saturday SU will be recognizing "Take a Kid to a Game" Day and all fans 12 and under will receive a free mini Susquehanna football.

The Quarterback Club luncheons are held every Friday at noon throughout the football season. As in years past, the event will take place in the Apple Community Room of the James W. Garrett Sports Complex on the Susquehanna campus with the exception of week seven when the luncheon will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18, the day before SU travels to Ursinus on Friday, Oct. 19.

A yearly membership to the QB Club is $40. That amount does NOT include the weekly fee for lunch ($8.50).

In attendance every Friday will be head coach Steve Briggs, the SU football coaching staff, Susquehanna Director of Athletics Pam Samuelson and Director of Athletic Communications Katie Meier. Samuelson, Briggs and Meier will both address the attendees and Meier preview upcoming contests and the previous weeks' results. Briggs' coaching staff will show a highlight film of the past weekend's game.

Each luncheon will also highlight the team's weekly Wealth Professionals/Gus Weber Crusader Football Player of the Week who will give a brief speech. This week, sophomore linebacker Jalon Scott (Albany, N.Y./Albany HS) will be the Player of the Week. Wealth Professionals of Shamokin Dam has partnered with Susquehanna as the official sponsor of the Player of the Week Award. The sponsorship was spearheaded by Ken Shedleski, the owner and President of Wealth Professionals.

The award is also named in honor of late Susquehanna president Gustave Weber, who was Susquehanna's president for more than 18 years from 1959 through 1977. A collegiate football standout at Wagner College, Weber was an avid Crusader athletics booster who actually served as head football coach for the final two games of 1965.

In addition, head field hockey coach Kaitlyn Skelley Wahila will be in attendance to address the audience with a recap of her team's season to date as well as preview the team's Landmark Conference opening game at Drew on Saturday.
