Holm, McCarty Selected as Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Volleyball and football are represented as this week’s Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders as sophomore Jessica Holm (Montvale, N.J. / Pascack Hills) and senior Jack McCarty (Westminster, Md. / South Carroll) have been selected for the period ending Sept. 23.

Holm helped the Crusaders go 2-1 at New York University’s Violet Classic this past weekend and win their home opener against Hood last Wednesday night. During the week, Holm tallied 31 kills (2.21 per game) with a .228 attack percentage.

In 2012, she has appeared in all 18 matches and is second on the team with 116 kills (1.81 kpg). She has 28 digs, 21 block assists and a .131 attack percentage.

McCarty was all over the gridiron against Gettysburg on Saturday, picking off a career-high three Bullet passes, recovering one fumble and recording nine total tackles (six solo, three assisted). Following this performance, he was named to the D3Football.com Team of the Week.

For the season, he has 35 tackles (24 solo, 11 assisted), one tackle for a loss, three interceptions, one pass break up, four passes defended, two fumble recoveries for 21 yards and a touchdown and one forced fumble. He is second on the team in tackles and leads the team in picks, with no player having more than one interception this season.

Holm and the volleyball team compete in the first Landmark Conference Weekend at Goucher from Saturday to Sunday. McCarty will lead his team against Muhlenberg for Homecoming on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
