SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Football and volleyball are represented as senior running back Connor McGrath (Sparta, N.J. / Pope John XXIII Regional / Assumption) and senior middle hitter Kaylee Monga (Rockaway, N.J. / Morris Knolls) have been named the Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders for the period ending Sept. 30.
McGrath led SU (2-3, 1-3) to its first Centennial Conference victory of 2012 on Saturday with a 17-0 shutout of Muhlenberg on Homecoming. McGrath carried the ball 44 times for 153 and two touchdowns. His 44 carries were just three shy of the single-game record of 47 set by Dave Paveletz in 2008.
In 2012, McGrath has played in all five games and leads the team in rushing attempts (105), rushing yards (391), all-purpose yards (487) and rushing touchdowns (2). He is ranked fifth in the Centennial in rushing yards and yards per game (78.2).
Monga had 11 kills and seven block assists in the Landmark Conference win over Scranton on Sunday. On Saturday, she recorded 10 kills, one dig and 20 total blocks in two tough league losses to Juniata (L, 3-2) and Catholic (L, 3-1).
For the season, Monga has played in all 78 sets and all 21 matches for SU (8-13, 1-2). She has 71 kills (0.93 kpg) and 104 total blocks (1.37 bpg).
This weekend, Monga and her teammates host the seventh-annual Crusader Classic while the football team has its bye week.
