McGrath Named Wealth Professionals/Gus Weber Player of the Week

SELISNGROVE, Pa. – At Friday’s sixth Quarterback Club Luncheon of the year, Susquehanna senior running back Connor McGrath (Sparta, N.J./Pope John XXIII Regional/Assumption) was named the Wealth Professionals/Gus Weber Player of the Week for his performance in SU’s win over Muhlenberg on Sept. 29.

McGrath took the bulk of the offensive game on his back, finishing the afternoon with 44 carries for 153 yards and two touchdowns, the Crusaders’ only touchdowns of the game. His 44 carries were just three shy of the single-game mark of 47 set by Dave Paveletz in 2008.

Wealth Professionals of Shamokin Dam has partnered with SU as the official sponsor of the Player of the Week Award. The sponsorship was spearheaded by Ken Shedleski, the owner and president of Wealth Professionals.

The award is also named in honor of late Susquehanna president Gustave Weber, who was SU’s president for more than 18 years who was also an avid Crusader athletics booster who actually served as head football coach for the final two games of the 1965 season.

The Crusaders are on the road Saturday to face Moravian at 1 p.m. in their first game after a bye week.
