Susquehanna’s Briggs, Schetroma Preparing for All-Star Game

GUADALAJARA, Mexico – Susquehanna head football coach Steve Briggs and senior defensive lineman Ken Schetroma ’13 (Elysburg, Pa./Southern Columbia) are currently away in Guadalajara, Mexico where they are preparing for Saturday’s Tazon de Estrellas Division III All-Star Game.

Briggs is serving as a defensive coach while Schetroma will play in the game along with teammates from 26 different DIII colleges and universities. The team is led by Don De Waard, the head coach at Central College. The team will take on football players from Mexico in Saturday’s contest, hosted by university Tec de Monterrey Guadalajara.

“It has been fabulous down here,” Briggs said.  “I did not know what to expect, but everything has been first class.  The accommodations are great, the facilities are terrific and the meeting rooms are NFL caliber.

“I have been pleasantly surprised at the quality of our players. All our defensive backs are talented and can play. We need to keep them healthy, keep them fresh and not overwhelm them too much and we will be just fine.”

The game will be streamed live (in Spanish language only) here. Live game updates will also be posted on Facebook here and on twitter at @globalsportsguy.
