Morton Named Wealth Professionals/Gus Weber Player of the Week

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – At Friday’s third Quarterback Club Luncheon of the year, Susquehanna sophomore punter T.J. Morton [Elkton, Md. / Salesianum (Del.)] was named the Wealth Professionals/Gus Weber Player of the Week for his performance last week at Johns Hopkins.

Against the Blue Jays, Morton punted 11 times with an average of 43 yards per punt, including a long of 54.

This season, Morton has 16 punts, including three over 50 yards. His 68-yard punt at Merchant Marine in Week 1 is the third-longest in program history.

Wealth Professionals of Shamokin has partnered with SU as the official sponsor of the Player of the Week Award for the second-straight season. The sponsorship was spearheaded by Ken Shedleski, the owner and president of Wealth Professionals.

The award is also named in honor of late Susquehanna president Gustave Weber, who was SU’s president for more than 18 years who was also an avid Crusader athletics booster who actually served as head football coach for the final two games of the 1965 season.

The Crusaders play their first home game of 2013, hosting Dickinson on Saturday at 1 p.m.
