Miller, Novakovich Named Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Football and field hockey are represented as junior defensive back Cody Miller (Towanda, Pa. / Towanda) and freshman forward Emily Novakovich (Saratoga, Calif. / Lynbrook) have been selected as the Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders for the week ending Oct. 20.

Miller, who was named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week, returned an interception 56 yards for a touchdown in Saturday’s 27-17 Homecoming win over Moravian. Miller finished the contest with four tackles and four pass breakups as the Crusaders (1-5, 1-4) held the Greyhounds to 248 yards of total offense.

Through six games this season, Miller is tied for second on the team with 39 total tackles (32 solo) and leads the Crusaders with seven pass breakups and nine passes defended. The junior also has two picks and 1.5 tackles for loss.

Novakovich, who was named the Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Week, tallied two game-winning goals last week as SU defeated Wilkes and league foe Scranton at home.

This year, Novakovich has started eight of 15 games, recording two goals and two assists for six Novakovich and the Crusaders host Goucher at 1 p.m. on Saturday while Miller and SU football play Ursinus at 6 p.m. at Lopardo Stadium.
