SELINSGROVE, Pa. – At Friday’s tenth and final Quarterback Club Luncheon of the year, the entire SU Offensive Line was named the Wealth Professionals/Gus Weber Player of the Week for their performance last Saturday against McDaniel.
Against the Green Terror, the offensive line helped the Crusaders compile 486 yards of total offense including 250 yards rushing (6.1 yards per rush) and did not surrender a sack for the second-straight game.
This year, the offensive line has helped the team to 1,223 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns as the Crusaders lead the Centennial Conference in red zone efficiency (24-of-27; 88.9 percent) while SU quarterbacks have thrown just seven interceptions all season.
Earlier this week, senior tackle Brandon Cuevas (Wharton, N.J. / Morris Catholic) was selected to play in the fifth-annual Tazon de Estrelleas (Bowl of the Stars) Division III Senior All-Start Game on Dec. 21 in Mexico.
Wealth Professionals of Shamokin has partnered with SU as the official sponsor of the Player of the Week Award for the second-straight season. The sponsorship was spearheaded by Ken Shedleski, owner and president of Wealth Professionals. This week the players made a donation the Susquehanna Youth Hockey League.
The award is also named in honor of late Susquehanna
president Gustave Weber, who was SU’s
president for more than 18 years who was also an avid Crusader
athletics booster who actually served as head football coach for
the final two games of the 1965 season.
SU travels to Juniata tomorrow at 12 p.m. for the annual Goal Post Trophy Game. The Crusaders won last year’s meeting 21-0.
