SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The second Susquehanna University Quarterback Club Luncheon of the 2014 season is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 12 at 12 p.m., the day prior to SU's home and Centennial Conference opener against #13 Johns Hopkins University.
Saturday's 1 p.m. game will be televised live on Fox56 and a replay of the game will air Sunday, Sept. 14 at 2 p.m.
The luncheons are held every Friday at noon throughout the football season. As in years past, the event will take place in the Apple Community Room of the James W. Garrett Sports Complex on the Susquehanna campus.
A yearly membership to the QB Club is $40. That amount does NOT include the weekly fee for lunch ($8.50).
In attendance every Friday will be head coach Steve Briggs, members of the SU football coaching staff, Susquehanna Director of Athletics Pam Samuelson and Director of Athletic Communications Katie Meier.
Samuelson, Briggs and Meier will address the attendees and Briggs' coaching staff will show a highlight film of the past weekend's game.
In addition, each luncheon will also highlight the team's weekly Wealth Professionals/Gus Weber Crusader Football Player of the Week who will give a brief speech. Wealth Professionals of Shamokin has partnered with Susquehanna as the official sponsor of the Player of the Week Award. The sponsorship was spearheaded by Ken Shedleski, the owner and President of Wealth Professionals.
The award is also named in honor of late Susquehanna president Gustave Weber, who was Susquehanna's president for more than 18 years from 1959 through 1977. A collegiate football standout at Wagner College, Weber was an avid Crusader athletics booster who actually served as head football coach for the final two games of the 1965 season.
This week's Player of the Week is freshman wide receiver and special teams player Tommy Bluj (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany).
