SELINSGROVE, Pa. – At Friday's second Quarterback Club Luncheon of the year, Susquehanna freshman wide receiver and special teams player Tommy Bluj (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany Hills) was named the Wealth Professionals/Gus Weber Player of the Week for his performance in SU's season opener at Lycoming College.
Against the Warriors, Bluj had six kickoff returns for 165 yards, including a long of 76. Through one game of the season, he leads the Centennial Conference in all-purpose yards (165) and is third in kick return average (27.5).
In addition to the partnership with Wealth Professionals, the Player of the Week award is also named in honor of late Susquehanna president Gustave Weber, who was SU's president for more than 18 years. He was also an avid Crusader athletics booster who actually served as head football coach for the final two games of the 1965 season.
SU hosts Johns Hopkins on Sept. 13 at 1 p.m. in the home and conference opener for the Crusaders. The game will be televised on Fox56 and a replay will air Sept. 14 at 2 p.m.
