Murtha Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Squad

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Susquehanna senior fullback Pat Murtha (Farmingdale, N.J./Colts Neck) has been named to the Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-District Team. This marks the first Academic All-District honor for the program since Dave Paveletz '10 was named to the National Team in 2009.

Murtha has appeared in all eight games thus far this season. He has been a key factor in the success of the running game with the Crusaders averaging more than 116 yards on the ground per game. SU boasts two running backs averaging over 55 yards per game in Tim Wade (Doylestown, Pa./La Salle College HS) (96.4 yards per game) and Ian Richardson (Hatfield, Pa./Cavalry Christian) (56.5 yards per game).

In addition to his help with the running game, Murtha has also caught 11 passes for 60 yards this fall.

The Crusaders are 1-7 on the season and travel to McDaniel on Nov. 8 for a 1 p.m. game.

The national CoSIDA Academic All-America teams will be released later this fall.
