SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna football player Nick Crusco (Oak Ridge, N.J. / Don Bosco Prep) and volleyball player Erin Byrne (San Diego, Calif. / Scripps Ranch) have been named SAAC/Pepsi Super Crusaders for the week ending September 20.
Crusco threw for three touchdowns and ran for three more to account for all six of the Crusaders' touchdowns in the 42-35 win over Dickinson College. He had 24 complete passes for a total of 287 yards for three touchdowns. Crusco also rushed for 65 yards and more touchdowns, including the game-winning, one-yard touchdown run with 2:21 remaining in the game.
In the three games this season, Crusco has thrown for 639 yards and six touchdowns and is averaging 209.7 passing yards per game. He has also rushed for 99 yards on 32 carries with three touchdowns.
Byrne tallied 60 kills in the past four matches for an average of 3.75 kills-per-set and a .288 attack percentage as well as 14 assists, 37 digs (2.31 digs-per-set), and 10 total blocks (2 solo). In two of those matches she finished with a double-double. SU went 4-0 at its 10th-annual Hampton Inn Crusader Classic and Byrne was names the tournament MVP.
On the season, the start of which Byrne missed due to injury, she has 101 kills (3.37 kills-per-set), 19 service aces, 72 digs, and 16 total blocks. The Crusaders are 10-5 overall and have won four in a row.
The football team returns to action on Saturday, September 26 at Gettysburg. The game starts at 1:00pm. The volleyball team opens its conference play at Juniata on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
