LANCASTER, Pa. – It certainly did not look like Susquehanna senior linebacker Tom McLoughlin (Bloomsbury, N.J./Bethlehem Catholic) missed the past three weeks due to injury as he came back with a dominant performance against Muhlenberg, dominant enough to be named Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
McLoughlin earned the same honor in week one, as well, before missing the next three games with an injury.
Against the Mules on Saturday, McLoughlin put up statistics in nearly every defensive category. McLoughlin had nine tackles – all solo – and accounted for both of the Crusaders' sacks. He also added two fumble recoveries and one interception for a 24-yard return in a 27-24 loss to Muhlenberg.
In his two games this season, McLoughlin has 23 tackles – fourth-best on the team – in addition to three tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, one pass breakup, three passes defended and two fumble recoveries.
The entire Centennial Conference will enjoy a bye week before teams return to action on Oct. 17. Susquehanna hosts Moravian in a 1 p.m. kickoff.
