SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna football player Tom McLoughlin (Bloomsbury, N.J. / Bethlehem Catholic) and field hockey player Cayla Spatz (Sinking Spring, Pa. / Berks Catholic) have been named SAAC/Pepsi Super Crusaders for the week ending October 4.
McLoughlin put up statistics in nearly every defensive category on Saturday in the Crusaders' 27-24 loss to Muhlenberg. He tallied nine solo tackles and accounted for both of SU's sacks. He also added two fumble recoveries and one interception for a 24-yard return.
In the two games that McLoughlin has participated in this season, he has 23 tackles, fourth best on the team and three of which were for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, one pass breakup, three passes defended and two fumble recoveries.
The Crusaders are 2-3 overall and 1-3 in Centennial Conference play.
Spatz started in both of SU's games this past week and finished with three goals and one assist for a seven-point week. She had one goal and one assist in a 3-1 win at DeSales and then scored the first two goals in SU's 3-1 win at Drew. She totaled seven shots, six of which were on goal.
Spatz has started all 11 games this season and has three goals and two assists for eight points. She has 28 shots with 14 on goal.
The Crusaders are 8-3 with a 1-1 Mark in Landmark play.
The football team has a bye this upcoming week and will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 7 when SU hosts Moravian. The game starts at 1:00 PM. The field hockey team hosts Elizabethtown on Saturday, Oct. 10 with a start time of 1:00 p.m.
