SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Susquehanna football linebacker Jim Barry '16 has signed with Finland's American football team Vantaan TAFT as a middle linebacker for the upcoming 2016 season.
In 2015, Barry led Susquehanna in solo tackles (61), assisted tackles (34) and total tackles (95). A team captain, Barry also tied for first in fumble recoveries (2) and contributed one touchdown on offense.
After the 2015 season, Barry participated in the Sixth-Annual National Bowl played in Ocean Bank Field at Florida International University Stadium. The National Bowl Game is an annual postseason college football all-star game consisting of top players from non-football bowl subdivision (FBS) schools.
Barry played 40 career games and has tallied 205 solo tackles, 83 assisted tackles, 288 total tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and four fumble recoveries. In 2014 and 2015, Barry was named to the All-Centennial Conference Second Team at defense.
Barry follows former SU quarterback Derek Pope '09, running back Greg Tellish '12 and safety and returner Jalon Scott '13 who have signed with Vantaan previously.
