Junior linebacker Connor Thompson made 10 tackles, recovered two fumbles and intercepted a pass to lead the Susquehanna University Football team to a 14-11 win over Muhlenberg and as a result he has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Thompson, who also registered a sack, recovered one fumble late in the first quarter, and recovered his second as few minutes later on a punt return that set up Susquehanna's first score of the game.
Late in the fourth quarter, Thompson forced another turnover with an intercepted pass on the final Muhlenberg drive of the game allowing the River Hawks to kneel on the ball to end the game.
Thompson is tied for the team lead with 22 tackles on the season including five tackles for loss and one and a half sacks.
The River Hawks return home for a 1 p.m. game Saturday against Franklin & Marshall.
