Susquehanna falls to St. Lawrence in first game of Heron Invitational

The Susquehanna field hockey team fell 4-1 to undefeated St. Lawrence in opening action at William Smith's Heron Invitational Saturday.

Junior Jenelle Anthony (Saylorsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) scored for Susquehanna just three seconds into the second half on a penalty stroke. The Saint defense stiffened up, and only allowed the Crusaders five shots overall.

Joss-Elyse Smith led the Saints, scoring one goal and assisting on another.

Junior goalie Lyndsey Meabon (Dillsburg, Pa./Northern) had seven saves for Susquehanna despite the Saints' overall 18-5 edge in shots.

The Crusaders face host William Smith on Sunday to conclude action at the invitational.
