Royals get late goal to take first Landmark matchup
SELINSGROVE – Finding the back of the cage just two
minutes and seventeen seconds into Landmark Conference action,
Susquehanna's night was looking bright. However, Scranton goals in
the final moments of both halves prompted a late game upset.
Sophomore Andrea Fiori (West Trenton, N.J./Lawrenceville School)
scored the lone goal of the game for Susquehanna off an assist from
junior Maggie Kramer ( Royersford , Pa. /Villa Maria Academy),
giving an early lead to the Crusaders.
Despite Susquehanna dominating control of the ball, Scranton senior
Karolyn Holody was able to tie the match off a ball from Margaret
Mathewson with less than two minutes remaining in the first half.
The same two would later reverse roles and score the deciding goal
with merely1:23 of play lingering in the inaugural Landmark
Conference match-up.
In the goal for the crusaders, Lyndsay Meabon ( Dillsburg , Pa.
/Northern) recorded eight saves for the night, while Kristina Goetz
had seven saves for the royals.
With the win Scranton improves to 3-4 on the season as the
crusaders drop to 3-5.
