SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Seniors Anna Spisak (Boiling Springs, Pa. / Boiling Springs) and Laurel Monaghan (East Fallowfield, Pa. / Coatesville Area) scored to lead the Crusaders to a 6-0 Landmark Conference victory over Goucher on a windy Senior Day Saturday afternoon at Sassafrass Field.
Monaghan scored the Crusaders' first goal as a result of a penalty stroke that beat Gopher goalkeeper Micki Manheimer at 15:27 in the first half.
Spisak's first goal was notched at 34:42 to stretch the lead to 2-0 that SU took into halftime.
In the second half, freshman Brodie Ercole (Lewisburg, Pa. / Lewisburg Area) found the back of the cage from a Monaghan pass at 51:08 to increase the Crusader lead 3-0.
Over ten minutes later, junior Ally Bradley (Jamison, Pa. / Central Bucks South) scored her first goal of the afternoon to push the margin to 4-0.
At 63:50, Spisak scored her second goal of the game, stretching the SU lead to 5-0.
Bradley rounded out the offensive output for the Crusaders, finding the back of the net with help from Ercole and senior Heather Moore (Columbus, N.J. / Peddie) with less than three minutes remaining in the second half.
SU (4-9, 2-3) outshot Goucher (4-9, 0-5) 25 to 1 and held the advantage in penalty corners, 23 to 0.
Senior goalkeeper Erin Ferguson (Mount Laurel, N.J. / Seneca) made one save for the Crusaders.
The senior class of 2012, which was honored in a pre-game ceremony, accounted for three goals, two assists, and eight points for the afternoon.
The Crusaders travel to Washington & Jefferson on Tuesday, Oct. 18 for a non-conference game at 4:30 p.m.
