Scott, Solino Selected as Super Crusaders

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Football and field hockey are represented as this week’s Pepsi/SAAC Super Crusaders as senior defensive back Jalon Scott (Albany, N.Y. / Albany) and senior forward Nicole Solino (Madison, N.J. / Madison) were selected for the period ending Sept. 2.

Scott had a 48-yard interception return for a touchdown with 1:12 remaining against Merchant Marine to help the Crusaders defeat the Mariners 37-21 for the 2012 opening win.

Scott recorded nine tackles (7 solo, 2 assisted) and returned two punts for nine yards. He helped the SU defense hold USMMA to only 75 yards of passing offense.

Solino helped the field hockey squad begin the 2012 season 2-0 by defeating Dickinson and Albright. In the 4-3 overtime win over the Red Devils, Solino knocked in two goals. At Albright, she scored one and had one assist in the 3-1 victory over the Lions.

As of Thursday, Solino leads the Crusaders with five goals on seven shots for 11 points.

Scott and the SU football squad host Johns Hopkins on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for the Centennial Conference opener. Solino and her field hockey teammates travel to St. John Fisher at 1:00 p.m.
