Field Hockey Falls to Kean in Harnum Championship Game

The Match-Up: The Susquehanna field hockey team battled the Cougars of Kean University in the 2016 Connie Harnum Classic championship game and fell 1-0 in overtime.

The Records: The River Hawks are now 1-1 on the season while the Cougars improve to 2-0.

Did You Know? Susquehanna has been in the championship game of the Connie Harnum Classic three times since its inception in 2011.

Overtime: The game remained scoreless throughout regulation play as neither team could put the ball away. One minute and two seconds into overtime, Kean's Krista LaMaina scored when SU's goalie Morgan Ludlam came out of the cage to cover Teresa Carr who then passed to LaMaina for the win.

Inside the Box Score: Abbey Kemble, Cayla Spatz, Emily Novakovich and Lauren Cram each took one shot for the River Hawks as Kean out-shot SU 13-4 with both teams only managing one a piece in the first half. Ludlam nabbed five saves on six shots on goal in her 71:02 minutes of work.

What's Next? The River Hawks remain at home to host King's College (Pa.) on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 1:00 p.m.
